Farming with trees on purpose: crops or pasture grown among or beside woody perennials, so the trees shelter, feed and hold the soil while yielding fruit, fodder or timber of their own. Shade-grown coffee under a forest canopy and windbreak rows across wheat plains are both agroforestry.
