The United Nations agency that moves food to people who cannot get it, founded in 1961 and based in Rome beside the FAO. In 2023 it assisted more than 152 million people in over 120 countries and territories, and it received the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize for its work against hunger and against the use of starvation as a weapon of war. It belongs in an agriculture atlas as the last link of the chain: what happens when the harvest, the market or the peace fails.
